Established in 2018, NYA originated as a concept in the US, inspired by comparable international Nikkei youth groups in Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Paraguay, and Brazil.
The Nikkei Youth Association consists of a board of youth leaders who are in charge of running the association. Board members meet regularly for event planning and organizational decisions. Membership on the board requires demonstrated commitment and election by peers.
NYA joins a lineage of Nikkei youth organizations across the Americas — connecting to sister communities in Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Paraguay, and Brazil as part of a broader international movement.
