Stories from NYA members representing the U.S. at international Nikkei gatherings.

Our delegate traveled to Mexico to represent the United States and Nikkei Youth Association at Vibra Joven, an annual camp that brings together Nikkei youth from across the Americas. Surrounded by roughly 70 young Nikkei from countries including Mexico, Peru, and Colombia, they took part in workshops exploring what it means to be Nikkei — from family immigration stories to how traditions are carried across generations — and came away with a deeper, more global sense of Nikkei identity.
An NYA member represented the U.S. at COPANI XXI, the 21st Pan American Nikkei Convention, held September 5–8, 2024 in Asunción, Paraguay under the theme "Oñondivepa" — Guaraní for "all together, all united." Held every two years and hosted this time by the Centro Nikkei Paraguayo, COPANI brings together hundreds of Nikkei from across the Americas to build alliances, share cultural traditions, and discuss the community's shared future.
